Tornado GR1 - is the mainstay of the strike/attack force. It has twin seats, twin engines and enjoys a variable geometry design enabling supersonic flight at all altitudes. The Tornado can carry a wide range of conventional stores, including ALARM anti-radar missiles and laser-guided bombs, it is fitted with twin internal 27mm cannons and can carry the Sidewinder air-to-air missiles. Tornado Tornado F3 - the Tornado F3 is the RAF's primary air defence fighter armed with 4 Sky Flash radar-guided missiles and 3 Sidewinder infra-red missiles. In addition, an internal 27mm cannon is fitted. Designed as a long range interceptor rather than an agile 'dogfighter', the F3 is being modified to carry the advanced medium range (AMRAAM) and advanced short range (ASRAAM) air-to-air missiles. Equipped with these missiles and the Joint Tactical Information Distributing System (JTIDS), the F3 will have considerable potency.

Tornado GR1A - The Tornado GR1A is a world leader in the field of all-weather, day and night tactical reconnaissance and is equipped with a Sideways Looking Infra-Red (SLIR) system and video recording equipment. The aircraft has no cannon, but can carry a wide range of conventional weapons. The Tornado GR1 can also undertake tactical reconnaissance tasks by carrying the Vicon camera pod. Tornado
Tornado Tornado GR4A - the GR4 is an upgraded Tornado GR1/1A/1B with adaptations to take the new advanced weapons such as the Brimstone anti-armour and the stand-off attack missile, Storm Shadow.
Jaguar GR1B & T2A - The Jaguar is a twin-engined, single seat offensive support aircraft and operates in the attack and tactical reconnaissance roles. The 2-seat trainer, the T2, has fully operational capability. A variety of weapons including cluster, freefall, retard and laser-guided bombs, as well as rockets can be carried. For targeting, the thermal imaging and laser designation (TIALD) pod is used. Two 30mm cannon are mounted internally. A comprehensive suite of electronic countermeasures are fitted and, for self-defence, over wing Sidewinder infra-red missiles are carried. Jaguar

Harrier Harrier GR7 & T10 - the Harrier is a single-seat offensive support aircraft capable of vertical and short take-off and landing operations. Fitted with forward-looking infra-red equipment (FLIR) and with the pilot wearing night-vision goggles (NVGs), the aircraft has a full night, low-level, poor weather capability. The GR7 can also operate effectively at medium level utilising its highly accurate angle rate bombing system (ARBS) which employs a TV and laser dual mode tracker (DMT). The Harrier has an integrated electronic self-defence suite and carries Sidewinder missiles for self-defence. The 2-seat trainer, the T10, retains full operational capability.

Boeing E3-D Sentry - The Sentry is an extremely capable airborne early warning aircraft. Cruising at 29,000 feet and 400 knots, the E3's capability extends significantly the range of ground based radars, allowing longer warning time of the approach of potentially hostile targets. Air and surface contacts are detected by its AN/APY-2 surveillance radar and information is transmitted to ground and ship based units using a wide variety of digital data links.
